Random Pictures.

Is that Marie Antoinette? Why yes, it is!

I have not written in months, please pardon the disappearance. I recently went to the French Legation museum in Austin, Tx, and found it to be as lovely as I thought it would be.

Hello, again!

Haven't written in quite some time. ha ha. However, lately I have been planning to, perhaps, create an 18th century reenactment society. We would get together every-so-often, and host lots of parties as well as public events, in which we would raise money for our favorite charities. It could work, I believe. And hopefully, I can get some of the bigger 18th century blogs to attend.

The Salmon Robe

I am off to find some pocket hoops, stays (or a corset), a bumroll, a wig, and some accessories for a dress I am also working on. This one will be a simple Robe a la Anglaise, and is a sort of dark salmon pink. I will be adding maroonish ribbons and bows onto the dress, and will try to do something about the gaudy puffy sleeves if I can. I am hoping this dress will come out as I imagine it.

The part of the robe around the (green) petticoat will also have the maroonish ribbon and lace to hid the cut seams. I am hoping it will all come out lovely, and will be able to adapt to any color petticoat.

The Purple Robe/ The First Attempt

This Purple Robe is actually coming along rather nicely. This is my very first attempt at turning an actual robe into a Robe a la Anglaise or Polonaise, as well. I started with a regular thrift store robe:

And I started by cutting the seams along the sides, under the arms. Then I trimmed fabric off the long sleeves, length wise and width wise. Next I am going to sew the sleeves together as a rough size, just to hold the fabric together (then I'll go back and take off some more). The I will sew the armpit seams together. There is still so much more to come, and the fabric is very odd, but I hope it will come out nicely :).

The Makeshift Robe-Part 1

I am attempting my first try at a Robe a la Anglaise or Polonaise, and have decided to use this dress I found at a thrift store, and will use a flower pattern fabric for the petticoat. I am still in search of a shift, stays (or corset), pocket hoops, and a proper petticoat, but I have decided to take it all in stride.

Hello...Bonjour!

I wanted to welcome you to my blog! This is my very first blog, but not my first time dealing in the century of the Rococo. For those of you who do not know what the Rococo is, it is the style of furniture, fashion, art, and music, inspired by the French. It took place in the 18th century, and still goes strong to this very day. I hope you will all enjoy this blog, even if I do not have any viewers or followers.
